Wood insert nut with hex

Wood insert nut with hex
LOADING ZOOM

The wood insert nut with hex is a metal threaded bushing with a metric internal thread M4 to M12 and a wood thread on the outside, which is screwed directly into the pre-drilled hole in wood.

In this way, a reusable, wear-resistant internal thread is achieved that can be subjected to heavier loads and is still relatively short.

Description

What is a wood insert nut with hex?

The wood insert nut with hex is a metal bushing with a metric internal thread and a wood thread on the outside, which is screwed directly into the pre-drilled wood and thus allowing you to fasten for exemple thin panels without drilling through it and still obtain a strong fastening. The result is disassembled and cheaper transport of the furniture with a more decorative look.

The wood insert nut with hex and collar is also available from M4 internal threads to M12 and can garantuee that you wont unexpectedly perforate the decorative panel through the end of the drilled hole.

The large external thread ensures powerful anchoring in the softer receiving material, which is usually wood. There are different versions; with drive slot and with internal hexagon drive.

Attaching table legs to a wooden tabletop?

Step 1: Determine the correct position of the metal frame.

Place the tabletop with the underside facing up on the ground.

Measure the distance at the ends of the tabletop. The exact placement of the table legs in relation to the head of the table depends on various factors.

Place the table legs on the tabletop and ensure they are positioned correctly according to the previously mentioned dimensions. Use a pencil to mark where the openings in the metal are located. This is where the threaded inserts will eventually be mounted.

Step 2: Pre-drilling the tabletop.

Remove the table legs from the tabletop and drill the holes in the tabletop at the places you marked in step 2, making sure to use the correct drill bit diameter based on the threaded insert to be used.

Be sure to drill carefully to avoid drilling too deeply, approximately 1 to 2mm longer than the threaded insert. Make sure not to drill through the tabletop and definitely do not use bolts that are too long during the installation of the table legs.

Step 3: Fastening the threaded inserts in the tabletop using the Allen wrench.

Ensure that the threaded wood inserts are screwed in so that their top is flush with the surface of the wooden tabletop and that the insert nuts are not screwed in too deep!

Now, reposition the table legs on the tabletop and make sure the openings in the metal top match the pre-drilled holes. Attach the table legs using a screwdriver, but be careful not to overtighten.
