Wood insert nut with hex and collar

Wood insert nut with hex and collar
LOADING ZOOM

The steel wood insert nut with hex and collar is a threaded bushing with a metric internal thread M4 to M16 and a wood thread on the outside, which is screwed directly into the pre-drilled hole in wood. In this way, a reusable, wear-resistantinternal thread is achieved that can be subjected to heavier loads and is still relatively short.

Stainless steel wood insert nut

The wood insert nuts and selftapping inserts with cutting slot and cutting holes are available in stainless steel A2 and A4.

Description

What is a wood insert nut with hex and collar?

The wood insert nut with hex and collar is a metal bushing with a metric internal thread and a wood thread on the outside, which is screwed directly into the pre-drilled wood and thus allowing you to fasten for exemple thin panels without drilling through it and still obtain a strong fastening. The result is disassembled and cheaper transport of the furniture with a more decorative look.

The wood insert nut with hex and collar is available from M4 internal threads to M16. The large external thread ensures powerful anchoring in the softer receiving material, which is usually wood. There are different versions; with drive slot and with internal hexagon drive.

Wood insert nut with or without collar

The wood insert is available in this version with collar and without countersunk collar as wood insert nut with internal hexagon drive. In case you need more internal innerthread, the slotted wood insert without reservoir can help you out.

Attaching a heavy wooden tabletop to a metal frame:

Step 1: Preparation

Determine the correct locations for drilling holes based on the holes in the metal frame.

Drill holes in the thick wooden tabletop with the appropriate diameter for the threaded screw-in wood inserts. Ensure that the diameter matches the size of the wood inserts.

Countersink the holes in the tabletop to prevent the inserts from protruding and provide a neat finish.

Step 2: Attaching countersunk head inserts for wood in the table

Use a screwdriver, such as a cordless drill, to screw the wood inserts into the prepared holes using an external hex bit or simply an external hex key. The countersunk head also acts as a stop, ensuring that the insert sits flat and covers the drilled hole nicely.

Carefully check the length of the bolts used to prevent them from being too long and damaging the decorative panel.

Step 3: Attaching the metal frame to the thick tabletop

Once the wood inserts are mounted, it is easy to attach the metal frame to the tabletop with standard metric bolts with the desired head. Ensure that the bolts are tightened securely but not too tight to avoid damage.

By following this method, you will achieve a practical and sturdy fastening that allows frequent disassembly and reassembly without loss of quality.

Good luck with your project!

Don't use screw-in wood insert nuts in exotic wood!

The steel wood insert nut is not the ideal solution for exotic types of wood; for this we recommend the self tapping slotted inserts with cutting groove from M3 internal thread up to and including M20, which are also available from stock in stainless steel/inox 303 and 316.
