A threaded self tapping insert that can be screwed-in is the ideal fastener when conventional threading or standard nut and bolt connections are not possible or desirable for the application. No special machine or technique is required for installation. Why use a self-tapping insert?
When a standard nut-bolt connection cannot be used due to aesthetic requirements or when mechanical thread tapping is not strong enough, the threaded self tapping insert provides the right solution. The Rampa insert is equipped with a cutting surface, allowing it to create its own thread, eliminating the need for pre-threading. As a result, the Rampa nut is securely anchored in the receiving material, greatly increasing the contact surface with the softer and/or thinner material, thereby significantly enhancing withdrawal force. The metal internal threading ensures a wear-resistant connection. Load capacity depends on the receiving material, so testing is essential.
We offer the self-tapping Rampa insert type ES with a cutting slot for cast iron, thermoplastics, and exotic wood. The self tapping Rampa insert type ESK with inner hexagon has the same shape, while the self-cutting Rampa insert type BAV with 3 cutting bores as a cutting surface for applications in aluminum, duroplast, and HPL panels. There's also a similar version, self cutting Rampa insert type BAS, with 3 closed cutting holes to prevent chips from entering the internal threading. All of these previous inserts are mounted with a Rampa driving tool type 515.
